Senior Portrait Locations
From Gulf Coast beaches to shaded woodland trails to vibrant botanical gardens, the Tampa Bay area gives us more variety per square mile than almost anywhere in Florida. Here are the locations I know best and shoot most often.
The Gulf's signature white sand and crystal-clear water, backed by dramatic Florida storm clouds at golden hour. One of the most photographically spectacular beaches in the country. High foot traffic earlier in the day, but early morning and the last hour of sunlight give you space and incredible light.
Less crowded than Clearwater Beach proper, Sand Key gives us access to the same stunning Gulf light with more room to work. The rock jetty areas add a completely different texture from the open sand, perfect for more editorial looks.
A Florida State Park with more natural beach character than the commercial strips — untouched dunes, sea oats, and old-growth trees right to the waterline. The north end of the park is typically quieter and gives us a genuinely wild Florida feel behind the portraits.
One of my favorite locations in the entire Tampa Bay area. Wooden bridges over the lake, Spanish moss draped from live oaks, and light that filters through the canopy in ways that look almost unreal. This is where the light ray photos happen. Intimate, moody, and completely unlike anywhere else.
A classic Tampa Bay park location with a central lake, Spanish moss oaks, and open lawns that catch beautiful afternoon light. The benches and waterfront areas give us natural framing and real variety without traveling between multiple spots. Easy for families to navigate.
Ancient live oaks, waterfront views of Old Tampa Bay, and that particular quiet that comes with a park that has centuries of history. The tree canopy here is exceptional — massive, gnarled oaks that frame portraits in a way you can't manufacture. One of the most underused senior portrait spots in the area.
Curated garden environments give us lush flowering backdrops, stone water features, brick paths, and architectural elements that create completely different looks within a few hundred feet of each other. Great for seniors who want variety and color without traveling across the county.
Close to home base and genuinely beautiful — this preserve has elevated boardwalks through cypress domes, open meadow edges, and the kind of untouched Florida nature that looks completely different from typical park locations. An unexpected location that produces striking results.
Have a spot in mind that isn't on this list? A park from your childhood, a field you pass every day, somewhere that actually means something to you? Bring it up. If the light works and we can get there, we can shoot it. The best locations are often ones the senior already loves.
No travel fees within the Tampa Bay area. Clearwater, Dunedin, Safety Harbor, Trinity, Wesley Chapel, Palm Harbor, Odessa — if it's within 40 miles, we're there. Farther out? Just ask and we'll work something out.
Tell me about your senior and I'll recommend two or three spots that fit their style. Half the conversation is figuring out the right location — it's not something you need to decide before reaching out.
